David Gibbs discusses housing and food security in Somerville on SCATV

Food and housing security, especially in light of the recent federal government shutdown, was the subject of a recent segment on SCATV’s Somerville Neighborhood News program. David Gibbs, executive director of Community Action Agency of Somerville, participated together with Lisa Robinson of Shape Up Somerville and David Jacobs of Project SOUP.

The federal shutdown brought into focus some of Somerville’s pressing needs related to food and shelter. Along with other topics, David spoke about CAAS’ food drive and what can be expected if the shutdown returns. He also emphasized that even though the government re-opened, the impact of the shutdown will continue to be felt in the community for many weeks, if not months.
