J. David Gibbs
Executive Director

David has been the Executive Director of CAAS since September 2014. David is an attorney with over 20 years of experience in the legal and nonprofit sectors, including serving as the Executive Director of the Cambridge Community Center and the Family Institute of Cambridge. He earned a law degree from Boston University School of Law and did his undergraduate work at Princeton University and the Rhode Island School of Design. More recently he attended the Institute for Nonprofit Management and Leadership at the Boston University School of Management. David and his family live in Somerville. When not working he can often be found hanging off the edge of a cliff rock climbing.
Jessie Leonard
Director of Head Start

Jessie joined the CAAS staff as the Assistant Director of Head Start in the fall of 2016 and became Director in early 2019. Jessie brings an extensive background in early childhood education, both as a teacher and an administrator. A licensed attorney, Jessie spent several years representing court-involved youth before returning to the education field. Jessie lives in Cambridge with her daughter.
Lisa Lewis
Director of Finance

Lisa joined CAAS as the Director of Finance in August of 2022. Lisa is a native of Boston with a passion for education. She brings to CAAS more than 15 years of experience in finance; primarily in education and the public sector. Lisa has an MBA in finance from Suffolk University. When not working, Lisa enjoys traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Ashley Tienken
Director of Housing Advocacy

Ashley joined CAAS in September of 2020. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in Human Development from Wheelock College and then completed her graduate degree at Northeastern University in Human Services Leadership.
Ashley’s career has taken her from Case Management/Family Advocate to management positions within nonprofits providing services focused on improving the lives of children, families and individuals faced with homelessness, substance abuse, mental health, poverty, domestic violence, and immigration issues.
Ashley has one child who occupies most of her time with Star Wars and Legos. In her spare time, she can be found spending time with family and friends, at the beach, reading, or rewatching episodes of Friends.
Kwon Faith
Development Manager

Kwon joined CAAS in August of 2023 as the new Development Manager. She graduated from Suffolk University with a degree in English and attended Simmons University for her Master's in Education. Kwon brings experience in legal research and teaching, as well as development and fundraising for nonprofits. A classically trained violinist, Kwon has traveled the globe sharing music and making new friends. Through these experiences, she developed a steadfast respect for community, diversity, and inclusion and has dedicated herself to always learning more about those around her, enabling her to better help her neighbors. In her free time, you can find Kwon baking and feeding her friends, playing with her dog, surfing, or on her constant quest for the best horror book or movie. She would love to hear your favorite scary story!
Alex Barbat

Alex joined CAAS in April of 2022. She graduated with her undergraduate degree in Political Science from the New College of Florida, where she developed a passion for community building, advocacy for social and economic equity, and creating space for joy and celebration. She brings experience with event coordination, digital design, and content writing, as well as an endless curiosity about new modes of storytelling. When she’s not working, you can find her doting on her two beloved cats, hanging out with friends, or curled up with a book.
